A small village known all over the world for its Saintly priest
◊ Morning: Take time to discover the village, the house of the parish priest of Ars, the basilica Saint Sixte where he lies,
and especially the destiny of this extraordinary man, Jean Marie Vianney, who became the Patron Saint of all parish
priests of the world (cf. week 12). Discover the village of the Saint of Ars, which welcomes around 500,000 pilgrims
each year who come to visit the sanctuary consecrated to the Patron Saint of all parish priests around the world. If
Ars is known internationally and figures among one of the most well-known sanctuary stops in France, if the waxwork
museum showing the history of Ars created by Grévin (17 scenes and 35 life-size waxworks - cf week 46), if so many
visitors come to visit, it’s because curiosity goes above religion. Take the time to discover the village, the priest’s home,
the basilica Saint Sixte where he lies, and particularly the life of this extraordinary man, Jean Marie Vianney, who has
become the Patron Saint of all parish priests worldwide.

◊ Afternoon: Château de la Fléchère (cf. week 43): Throw yourself into the discovery of this castle, the largest seventeenth
century castle open for visits in the whole region of Lyon. Not only remarkable for its size, but also for its amazing
frescoes, dating from 1632, by the Italian painter Pietro Ricchi: hunting scenes, the labours of Hercules, a military parade...
a unique collection in France. Also highly unusual : the existence of a Calvinist temple hiding on the 3rd floor of
the main building. Within 30 hectares, browse the French classical garden and the English romantic park of the castle.
Surrounded by a peaceful walk under ancient trees, these gardens offer you beautiful views of the castle and the hills
of the Beaujolais.

The priest of Ars’s walk. Escape right into the heart of nature and follow the footstep of the holy priest of Ars. By foot
or by bicycle, with family or with friends, follow the 16 km marked path traveled by the holy Priest to go from Ars to

◊ Activities:
- The Poney Club of Ain in Francheleins offers a fun tour with 10 instructive stopping places. Pony ride “holding in hand”:
from 30 min to 1 hour.
- The “Randoland” tour (4,5 km), imagined as a treasure hunt, will teach you how to observe local fauna and flora and
guide you to discover the wheel mills in the center of Guéreins.
