The former capital of the Principality of the Dombes
◊ Morning: Situated on the banks of the Saone, Trévoux was once the capital of the Dombes principality. Come and
discover its treasures and visit the exceptionnal Hotel Pierre and Anne de Bourbon, classed an historic monument,
transformed into a modern, interactive museum.This stop along the river, where many pleasure boaters drop anchor, is
an ideal spot for a stroll along the paved alleys, or along the banks of the river, stop in the restaurant terraces, discover
the history at at the Carré patrimoine or visit the numerous art workshops and craftsmen in the ‘Rue des Arts’.
Extend your leisure time with a stroll along the river and enjoy the wild and natural atmosphere of the Saône. The Inzeboat
team will be delighted to welcome you on board in friendly environment beside the campsite Kanôpée Village. For
a boat trip together or with the family (max 6 people)(cf. week 09).

◊ Afternoon: Climb to the Castle which dates from the Middle Age (open in summer) and enjoy the view of the Saône
River. By foot or by bicycle (rental at the camsite), follow the Saône river on the towpath to the charming village of
Saint-Bernard. Its castle has architectural elements from the 13th to the 18th century and is known to have welcomed
the painters Maurice Utrillo and Suzanne Valadon. (cf. week 21)
◊ Speciality “Capital of gastronomy”: At the tourist office of Trévoux : carp rillette, local beer, and honey from local
◊ Gourmet evening: restaurant “Chez Bibet” - Rue de la Saône - 01600 Saint-Bernard (cf. week 21)
Saône riverside, famous address for fresh frogs prepared the mother Bibet way and other Dombes specialities.
◊ Activity ideas:
- low cost bike rentals at Trévoux campsite. The Green Road : cycle path for mountain bikes and city bikes from
Trévoux to Lyon.. It follows the towpath for 31 km from Trévoux to Lyon Riding through luxuriant and relaxing vegetation.
Visit the Malattre Museum (classic cars) in Rochetailée (cf week 30). Allow 2 hours to 2:30 hours for the journey.To
return : to take the train from Lyon Vaise to Anse, most of the TER have a carriage for bicycles.
- Balade Beaujolais gyropode (cf. week 4) : in summer each Monday afternoon on site, a fun way of getting about
- Val de Saône Canoë : rental canoë kayak, stand and paddle in Trévoux and Parcieux. (cf. semaine 50)
◊ Tips: two steps from the Saône, a bathing area dedicated to the whole family. The aquatic park “les Cascades” is surrounded
by 2 hectares of greenery. You’ll find a large pool with a gentle slope for children, waterfalls for decoration, a swimming
against the current, a multitrack slide for the adventurers…
