Play «pétanque» or take part in local festivals, celebrating good food, chestnuts and cheese. There is « la Fête des Mousselines » in Tarare, the « conscrits »parade (unique to Beaujolais), or the enchanting street organ festival… Naturally, we also celebrate our wines at the ‘Beaujolais Gourmand’ in Tarare and the « Sarmentelles » in Beaujeu for Beaujolais Nouveau and at the ‘Fête des Crus’ and the chapters of a goodly number of fraternities for the others… Finally, the Beaujolais Festival and the Villefranche theatre season put on high quality performances, adding a strong cultural dimension to this otherwise rural region…

The many restaurants and inns offer delicacies to make your mouth water, and you can of course sample traditional Lyonnaise Cuisine. The variety and quality of the region’s product is amazing : « cabrions » (goat cheese), farmhouse charcuterie and the many different sausages (saucissons), Charolais meat, hillside honey, locally made oils, and of course the 12 Beaujolais wine appellations, which are famous worldwide. So, dear food lovers, make the most of it, at adventure farms, tasting centres, in hundreds of Beaujolais wine cellars that are always open, and at producers’ estates, where you will share in their love of the region… Bon appétit !
